Well, got her home and started stripping the crap I don't want. She is a very solid hull not soft spots and the transom is rock solid.
I think I am going to add a transom bracket on her and possibly rebuild the motor. Just not sure yet.
I will post up some photos later tonight.

I am gonna steal Scotty's thunder.... Brian if you are starting from the beginning why not twins? With that hull you are not as concerned about weight and where you fish, well being able to run home with no concerns is a good thing and with a pair of 100-140's you could even do that on the step..v

Hi Dave, Thanks for the input. I was thinking about twins. My max rating is 250 hp. So, I was thinking a pair of 100 or 125 hp. Still on the list.

Thanks,

B

Steal the thunder Brother Dave! Nothing like a set of small twins.

Bryan goes to Catalina Island on a regular basis. 23 miles out, 23 miles back.

Lot of security with the girls back there. Twin 115's would be de chit sFun_crazydance

Wouldn't go any smaller or larger HP wise. The Mako 230 had some glass. They manufactured an excellent hull across the board back in the day.

Bunch of family in town this week and everyone is cannonballing off the boat... The Windline 4 rung ladder (DL4X) makes it easy for all ages and knee strengths to get back in the boat, so if you have any plans for a ladder, I would strongly endorse that one right to the top of the list...

Bryan, I'd check with a local Fab guy who specializes in aluminum. Not hard to build and will fit your hull like a glove. Won't have to deal with shipping and can make it custom (ladders were you want them, flotation chamber, etc) for you for not a lot of coin.

HI Kevin, I hope all is well. The guys out here are crazy expensive. I can have one built elsewhere and pay shipping, still would be about 1/2 the price as out here.
I have tried several times to have stuff done locally. I will give you an example. A SS welded bow rail, out here $3500.00 and up. Back there , about $1000.00 or so, plus shipping of a few hundred.
Outboard powerhead rebuild out here, starts at $4500.00. Back there a solid shop remanufactured with upgraded power pack, test ran and ready to install, $3100.00. Shipping is about $500 both ways.

I don't mind paying for a product or service, but double in most cases is the norm.

Sorry for the late chime in but nice Mako. I love the older Mako's especially the console layout. Good luck with her!

Bryan, that is crazy to say the least. Epic marine does them and they are pretty good.
