Bruce I was looking into the etec but the deal I can get on the merc ( it's all in who you know) even with all the hardware is still a grand less then the etec, around here anyway.

Scott be careful with the Opti Pops as we call them at work. POS and couldn't wait to get rid of them. My Coast Guard friend said they broke 1 every time out and got rid of them with less than 400 hrs due to always in the shop........

The early Optimax motors did have their problems with the direct injection oil system and lots of shops called them Optipops! sHa-shakeshout Mercury fixed the problem around 2003 and the reliability since then has been good. Mercury offers a standard 3 year warranty for anything that goes wrong, with an optional 6 year warranty that some dealers throw in for free. You could not stay in business long with a 6 year warranty if your motors were blowing up with any frequency! :605_thumbs_up:
