Hi all,

I am having issues with my 2001 200 osprey powered by the original 115hp johnson. Lots of work done on the motor including new fuel pump. It runs fine at idol however at high revs it will move the boat for about 60 seconds then act as if it is not getting fuel. I am thinking the next thing to do is replace the fuel line and filter. Any assistance with the questions below is appreciated.

Anyone have a digram of the fuel tank?
Any tips to replacing the fuel line?
Any suggestions for a new fuel filter?
Length of hose needed?

Anything else I might need to know??

Thank You!

Do a couple troubleshooting items first.

1) Check/replace your primer bulb, they often go bad and can cause the same symptoms. If that is not it, then step 2.

2) Run your motor on the water like you did above on a remote tank. This will help you rule out if it's your fuel supply system or other issues. If your issue goes away then you know where to start trouble shooting. If not, then your focus should shift to your engine.

Do both and check back in with us..

i vote for the racor fuel/water separator.

also to piggy back on what bruce said above, run it off a remote tank. that will rule out any motor issues. there is an anti siphon valve on your tank where it connects to the fuel hose. that can create a lot of issues. also if the vent is blocked that will cause the issue your describing. dont know where you live but mud dobbers love to build nests in those fuel vents.

If you don't want to try the alternate tank method then I would start with the primer bulb first since they are always suspect #1 in a fuel delivery issue along with ensuring your lines are not kinked at all. Although a fuel water separator is a great idea it prob not solve your problem, but as stated above RACORs are the standard. If a new primer bulb does not solve it then the anti-syphon valve would be my next stop as again stated above.. However, at this point you are really chasing a ghost with time and money.

Is there a marina that you can borrow a small tank from or buy a small gas can from Wal-Mart like the one for your lawn mower or trimmer...the cost should be minimal. From there it should be simple to disconnect your fuel line at the primer bulb and run it down into a small portable gas tank. Just make sure you pre-mix the portable tank with oil if you do that already.

There is nothing more disappointing than trying to run down a problem, replace a bunch of parts and then discover that you did not fix it wasting a ton of time and hard earned money.
